SPAIN vs SWITZELAND

One more football match has just been finished in the FIFA World Cup 2010 currently being held at South Africa. The second football match scheduled for today, June 16 between Spain vs Switzerland concluded with an unexpected result of Switzerland being the winner with a final score of 1-0.
It was supposed to be in favor of Spain as they did great in past World Cup titles but unfortunately, luck did not strike to them at this football match with Switzerland. Definitely there were a lot of World Cup fans who were dismayed with Spain’s performance in this World Cup 2010 match against Switzerland.

As with the previous FIFA World Cup 2010 football matches, the only goal committed by Switzerland in this game happened during the second half in the 52nd minute made by Fernandes. Switzerland scored completely against the run of play. Spain was stunned by a quick ball upfield with Derdiyok from Switzerland edging the ball past Casillas of Spain and Fernandes bundling the ball over the line making a successful goal.

With this win of Switzerland against Spain, they have now equalled Italy’s record of 5 consecutive FIFA World Cup matches without conceding a goal. They have now gone 484 minutes without conceding behind only Italy (550) and England (501). Congratulations to Switzerland for winning this FIFA World Cup 2010 match against Spain. You have proven yourselves that you are also a force to be reckoned with.
